Boating at West Boggs Lake
West Boggs Lake spans 622 acres and offers excellent opportunities for both fishing and recreational boating. Anglers love the lake’s strong populations of crappie, bluegill, and largemouth bass, thanks to a successful fishery restoration. Morning hours are ideal for quiet fishing, while afternoons are perfect for skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, or simply cruising the scenic shoreline.
The lake is a public waterway, so all Indiana boating and fishing regulations apply. Fishing tournaments are welcome with prior scheduling, and seasonal dock and post rentals are available for regular visitors.
Whether you’re casting a line or enjoying the breeze on the water, boating at West Boggs is a highlight of the park experience.

Fishing at West Boggs Lake
West Boggs Lake is one of Southern Indiana’s premier fishing destinations. The 622-acre lake was fully renovated and restocked by the Indiana DNR in 2014, and it’s now home to a thriving fishery that draws anglers from across the Midwest.
Whether you’re casting from the shoreline, launching from your boat, or entering a weekend tournament, you’ll find excellent opportunities to reel in trophy crappie, big bluegill, and bass pushing 5 pounds or more. It’s not uncommon to catch a cooler full of 9”+ gills or a full limit of crappie in the early morning hours.
From casual weekend fishing to serious angling, West Boggs Lake delivers consistent action and a scenic backdrop that makes every cast worthwhile. Don’t forget—early mornings are reserved for fishermen before recreational boating begins at noon.
